What it costs, exactly
Every amount the co-op asks for, on one page. No hidden fees and no tie-in.
Paid once, and it’s yours
The share capital contribution
The €40 isn’t a fee or a cost: it’s your share of the co-op. If you ever leave, we give it back as set out in the statutes. Your liability as a member is limited to that amount.
- Consumer member (individual)
- €40 paid once, returnable
- Supporting member (for instance, if you live outside Barcelona)
- €40 paid once, returnable; you shop at the public price
- Partner organisation (any organisation or business)
- €150 once, or €150 a year
The fee, only if you don’t do shifts
If you choose to do neither a shift nor a circle, you pay a quarterly fee. Nothing else changes: you keep every benefit. You pick the level yourself, and you don’t have to justify the reduced one.

Home delivery
The online shop is for consumer members and partner organisations; supporting members can’t use it. The courier co-ops Mensakas and Les Mercedes deliver by bike within 24-48 hours, in Barcelona (except Vallvidrera), L’Hospitalet and Cornellà. If you ask for delivery at the till, give us at least 5 hours’ notice. It’s meant for the occasional order.

What costs nothing
- Coming in and shopping without being a member, at the public price
- Being a member if you do a shift or a circle: no fee
- Leaving, and getting your contribution back
- Changing how you take part
- Coming to a Cafè FoodCoop (monthly, to find out about the project and ask questions)
And the price of the products?
Our margin is public: 22% on everything except the essentials range, which is at 17%. No loss leaders, no bait offers. We’re not cheaper than the big chains on everything, and we don’t claim to be. What we do guarantee is that you know where everything comes from and the conditions it was produced in.
