Why we exist

We want to know where our food comes from.

We’re neighbours who decided to set up our own not-for-profit supermarket, so that good, local food at a fair price is within reach of more people. The shop belongs to its members: there are no shareholders, and the big decisions are voted on at the assembly.

  • For you

Good, seasonal food, mostly local and organic, with where each product comes from in plain sight. You know what you’re buying and what’s behind every price.

  • For the people who grow it

We put farmers, co-ops and small local producers first, and we don’t haggle them down. Paying a fair price to the people who make our food is what the whole project is built on.

  • For the neighbourhood

A shop where people know each other by name. What you spend here stays with neighbours and local producers instead of ending up with a big chain.

Who can shop here

A shop that’s open to everyone.

You can shop here without being a member, as often as you like. And if you like it, become one: the shop becomes yours too, with a vote at the assembly and a discount on your shopping.

  1. Come in and shop

A man picks vegetables from the open fruit and veg display, full of wicker baskets with price labels.

The shop is open to everyone. No card, no fee, nothing to sign up for. Come in, have a look and pay the public price.

  2. If you like it, become a member

A chalkboard in front of two crates of oranges. In Catalan it says: ‘Fresh!!! Oranges from Montsià and Benicarló, and yes, they’re organic’.

You put in a one-off sum that stays yours, and we give it back if you leave. In return you get a discount on your shopping and a vote at the assembly for as long as you’re a member.

  3. Choose how you take part

A man crouching by the wooden veg crates puts out a celeriac; next to it are parsnips, onions and turnips.

A shift of 2-2.5 hours every 4 weeks, a working circle (often from home) or a quarterly fee. All three count the same.

We’re not always the cheapest. We publish all of it, including the shops that beat us: see the full comparison and judge for yourself.

A hand holds up the price label for Catalan hanging tomatoes in front of the baskets of tomatoes in the veg display.

At member prices, we’re cheaper than Condis and Bonpreu / Esclat, we’re about the same as Ametller Origen, and we’re dearer than Mercadona.

We’re a not-for-profit consumer co-op. The shop belongs to its members: each one has a vote, and each one takes part with a shift, a working circle or a fee.
